On April 7,  2019 sixteen teams consisting of MAY alumni from the classes of 2003-2018 will come together for the 2nd Annual MAY MADNESS event to compete in single elimination basketball games. This event will bring many alumni together to participate with their friends and Rabbeim in the new Shaulson Gymnasium, right here on our campus, giving everyone an opportunity to support their strong bond with our yeshiva.

During this unique day of fun, athletics, and networking, alumni will compete with their friends and Rabbeim on two courts.  Before the Finals there will be a free-throw contest, as well as a half-court shot attempt, where prizes can be won. The Championship game will feature the winning Alumni team facing the winner of the Rabbeim vs MAY Varsity game.  Raffle tickets can be purchased throughout the tournament for chances to win some spectacular prizes.  The full barbecue will continue as we award trophies after the championship game to the winners of the Mesivta Ateres Yaakov Alumni Basketball Tournament, MAY MADNESS.

Mesivta Ateres Yaakov, established in 1987 as part of Yeshiva of South Shore, was named in honor of the Torah giant, Rav Yaakov Kamenetzky, זצ״ל.  The Mesivta became a separate and independent institution in 2003, expanding its successful brand of chinuch emphasizing Torah learning, general studies education, middos tovos, and focusing on building bnei Torah who will become strong contributors to Klal Yisroel.

The Mesivta has grown steadily from a dozen students in rented space in Lynbrook, to a top-ranked, competitive, and full-featured Mesivta with nearly 200 students, enrichment programs, a Yeshiva Gedolah program, a community minyan and learning programs, and more.

Under the guidance of its Rosh HaYeshiva, Rabbi Mordechai Yaffe, Ph.D., the Mesivta continues to expand its programs and has become a leading Yeshiva institution serving the Five Towns area and beyond.  It is famous for its warm caring Rabbeim, its top-notch learning programs, and its superior general studies education.

The Yeshiva is most proud of its more than a thousand alumni who have leveraged their MAY chinuch to excel as bnei torah in nearly every field and endeavor.
